Under the Trump administration, corporations have seized even greater power to control people’s lives. Former executives, who put profits before people, are running entire government agencies.
It is more critical now to wage campaigns not just against the state and elected officials, but also against corporations. In order to raise awareness about the role of corporations, we are pleased to announce that voting is now open in this year’s Corporate Hall of Shame.
This year, nominees to the Corporate Hall of Shame are massive corporations like:
Bayer, which recently merged with Monsanto, creating the world’s biggest seed and agri-chemical company. The Geo Group, which runs prisons and detention centers that profit at the expense of people of color and immigrants, while spending millions on lobbying and elections to advance its agenda.Nestle, for extracting Michigan’s groundwater for mere pennies just down the highway from Flint, where residents pay some of the highest rates in the country for poisoned water, and for extracting bottled water from drought-ridden California’s national forests to sell at a huge profit.
